Arsenal captain offers guarded response when asked about future
Robin van Persie responded with 'we'll see' when asked if he is hopeful of sorting out a new contract as he prepares to hold talks regarding his Arsenal future.
The Gunners captain has a further season remaining on his current deal and he has been linked with summer moves to the likes of newly-crowned Premier League champions Manchester City and Juventus.
Arsene Wenger has previously confirmed his intention to have a decision on Van Persie's future before the striker heads off to Euro 2012 with the Netherlands.
And, in the build-up to Sunday's 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion which secured third spot, Wenger also expressed his hope that UEFA Champions League football could influence Van Persie to stay.
The Premier League's top scorer was not on the scoresheet at The Hawthorns, but he is now planning to meet with Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis.
Van Persie: "We'll chat next week somewhere."
When asked if he was hopeful that something can be sorted out, Van Persie replied: "We'll see. We'll have a chat and go from there."
