posted on Tue, 07 Aug at 10:00
MONROVIA, Liberia, August 7, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- UNMIL will host its weekly press briefing at its Pan African Plaza Headquarters in Sinkor at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday 8 August 2012 on the official launch of the Consolidated 2010/11 End of Court Term Reports.
Among UNMIL and government officials expected to make remarks and preside over the official launch are the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Rule of Law, Mr. Louis Aucoin and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, His Honour Philip A.Z. Banks III who will represent the Chief Justice of Liberia at the occasion.
The report is an analysis of the trial and disposal of docketed cases for that period including the tracking of Sexual and Gender Based Violence cases country-wide and county specific. The analysis arose out of the need to identify trends in criminal case progression and enable the Government of Liberia to proffer possible interventions.
The launch will also be attended by the Director of UNMIL's Legal and Judicial Systems Support Division, Mr. Kamudoni Nyasulu as well as representatives of the United Nations Police, Human Rights and protection Section, Corrections Advisory Unit and the Office of Gender Advisor.
UNMIL Spokesperson Yasmina Bouziane will moderate the press briefing.
