Yendi NHIS in limbo back

posted on Fri, 20 Jul at 13:09

Authorities at the Yendi Municipal Hospital have warned of the possible shutting down of the operation of the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme.

Officials said the impending danger is largely due to the huge debt incurred by the National Health Insurance Authority to the tune of GHc 664, 704.68.

This was uncovered during a fact-finding visit to the Yendi Municipal Hospital where Citi News laid hands on some official documentation which indeed confirmed that the National Health Insurance Authority owed the hospital that colossal sum.

The NHIA for the month of March incurred GHc 151, 391. 28 while unsettled claims for April stood at GHc 131, 852.

In May, the hospital recorded GHc 161, 178.815 whereas that of June was GHc 220, 354.87.

The Yendi Hospital administrator, Mr. Zakariah Yakubu said suppliers of goods and services to the hospital have withdrawn their services because the authorities are no longer credit worthy.

Some residents of Yendi expressed disappoint at the unfortunate development.
